Is This Serious?...

You Know It's Serious When

Serious Relationships Single men and women often wonder how to tell if they really care for someone and if they are ready to make a commitment. If you are asking this question, it means you're still not sure that this is "the one" or that you're ready. These signs below can help you tell how serious you're getting. Keep in mind that these need to apply to both of you, for it to really work out.

Stage 1

You know you're getting closer to making a commitment when.

•  You don't make many plans with your friends because you'd rather be with him.

•  You start saying "we" instead of "I" or "you."

•  You answer on her behalf (eg: a waiter asks what you'd both like to order and you know exactly what she'll want).

•  You start gravitating towards other couples instead of singles.

•  You no longer keep track of all the single people you know or date.

•  You find yourself more interested in romantic movies and love stories.

•  You like hearing stories about others who have fallen in love.

•  You have nothing to hide so you no longer panic about your date checking your answering machine or opening your wardrobe to check for other people's belongings.

•  You get tickets to some event and instantly think of taking her instead of your best friend.

•  You find yourself thinking of ways to please her instead of just yourself.

•  You wonder about what furniture and belongings you'd both give up when you move in together.

Stage 2

You know you're getting close to a proposal when.

•  You would rather be with her than with anyone or anywhere else.

•  You say you're tired of the single life and really mean it.

•  You think more in terms of your future: how and where you will live and work.

•  You have a newfound interest in weddings.

•  You consider money differently- with an eye toward buying a house.

•  You expose secrets to each other that you wouldn't tell anyone else.

•  You enjoy fantasising about what your children will be like.

•  You really want your families to get along.

•  You picture yourselves growing old together.
